Your Surrender is a large acoustic band from Layton, Utah featuring seven different musicians. These musicians range from playing many different instruments such as guitar, piano, bass, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, congo drums and even the viola. Their wide range of instruments provides a very full and unique sound for their acoustic tunes.
 

Your Surrender began as a five member all-electric band but recently switched to being purely acoustic. Interesting enough, their old drummer is Dallin Hales, who was featured last week as “One Desire.” Since their transition to acoustic, Your Surrender has released 2 separate original singles – the first is “With Me”, and their most recent single being “On the Line.”

This acoustic band has played many live performances around Utah at venues including Weber State University, Mojo’s Café, Farmington Days Festival and many others. They perform covers form artists such as Young the Giant, Mumford and Sons, Jason Mraz and Imagine Dragons, which are all similar to their own style they create in their original songs.
 
“I love to share what I have with people and I love being on stage. I love it when the audience is all supporting me and singing along, It’s just what I love to do,” explains female lead vocalist Olivia Stevens.
 
The band is currently working on their full length album “The Day the Sky Split in Two,” which they plan to release at the end of January. This album will feature their two previously released singles as well as 9 other acoustic tunes and will cost only $8.
 
Interestingly enough, when asked about this new album, they explained to us that the progression of the songs in the album tells a unique story. Featuring both male and female vocals, the album depicts evolution of their love story.
 
“This album is a lot more than just music. It portrays the separate relationships both Olivia and I have had throughout our lives in a way that proclaims the connection love creates between everyone who is privileged to experience it. Our album is constructed in way to tell a story of a couple who find themselves either against or for their relationship at different times in their life together. It is only after realizing that they must change their ways and work to make the other happy that real love is discovered. This is why we are called ‘Your Surrender.’ It is about oneself surrendering their own pride and pleading for that same surrender from those they love.”
